Jadance Black

Hey everyone! My name is Jadance and I studied at Cameron University where I obtained a bachelors in Cellular and Molecular with a minor in Chemistry and Psychology. In my undergraduate research, I studied bats and the adenoviruses they carry.  I am currently studying senescence and phenotypic switching in VSMCs in Dr. Shannon Conley's lab. During my time in PREP, I have been enjoying learning new skills and getting to know more about graduate school.

In my free time I like to craft, read, crochet, paint, and hang out with my besties and my cats.

Cole Brown

Hello! My name is Cole Brown (right) with my cat Pudding (left), who was a bit angry that I interrupted snack time for a picture. I’m from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and I graduated with a BS in Biochemistry from OU Norman in December 2023. I did some undergraduate research investigating fungal natural products as potential therapies for a variety of diseases. Currently, I’m in the lab of Dr. Bao Vu where we study the role of protein kinases in drug resistance of C. glabrata.

In my free time, I enjoy going to the gym, bothering my cats, and hanging out with friends.

Ty Forrest

Heyyy! I'm Ty Forrest, a 2024 graduate of Hendrix College with a bachelor's of arts degree in Biology. I participated in a summer research experience at The OSU where I worked on a project looking at Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) and establishing a cell line that would mimic a rare form of CLL called Richter's Transformation. My current research at OUHSC is in the Zenewicz Lab where I'm studying Th22 cells and secreted IL-22 and IL-17. I'm having a wonderful experience learning here so far and excited to learn even more!

Some of my hobbies are shopping way too much, traveling, trying new foods, and going out with friends.

Alex Moya

Hello hello!

My name is Alexandra Moya and I graduated from Cameron University in May of 2024. I currently have a bachelor's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a minor in both Chemistry and Psychology. My past research involves measuring cutaneous evaporative water loss in bats found in the Chihuahuan Desert. My current research involves studying reactivation of the T. gondii infection. So far, I have learned a lot and hope to continue doing so.

A few of my favorite things include orangutans, ice cream, and books.

Oliver Rubin

Hello! I’m Oliver and I graduated from Kalamazoo College this past summer with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Biology and German, where I gained an interest in studying neuroscience. Previously, I have worked at the University of Michigan, where I assisted with research studying the effects of chronic stress withdrawal on glucocorticoid receptors in brain reward centers. Here at OUHSC, I am a member of the Ahmad Lab, where I am studying the effects of mutant fatty acids on the synaptic properties of motor learning cells in the cerebellum (Purkinje cells) by using techniques such as patch-clamp electrophysiology and organotypic cell culturing.

I am absolutely loving my time here! PREP has given me a wonderful opportunity, and everyone involved in the program is the absolute best! Outside of research I enjoy cooking, playing video games, amateur writing, and watching sports.
