The OU College of Dentistry's Graduate Periodontics program provides a variety of clinical, didactic and research experiences. The clinical experiences available are broad and based upon a large number of patients requiring periodontal care, such as the replacement of missing teeth by placement of dental implants.
Specializing in periodontics provides you the knowledge and skills needed to diagnose and treat complex patient, bone, and soft tissue conditions. Graduates can pursue a career as a private clinical periodontist, an academician, or both.
What makes this program special at the college?
We are a fully-accredited program by the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association. We offer small student/faculty ratios ranging from 5/1 to 2/1, and numerous learning, research, and networking opportunities both on and off campus. All third-year students are eligible to sit for the Qualifying Exam of the American Board of Periodontology.
