Position Overview

The University of Oklahoma Health Campus invites applications for the position of Co-Director of the Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Sciences (MSCTS) Program. The Co-Director will provide visionary academic and administrative leadership for a graduate program that equips students with the knowledge and skills to transform scientific discoveries into improved health outcomes for the people of Oklahoma and beyond.
The Co-Director will guide curriculum development, mentor faculty and students, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration across OUHC colleges, OU Health, and community partners. This role is central to advancing OU’s mission as the state’s flagship academic health center, preparing the next generation of clinical and translational researchers who will improve health through discovery, education, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership

  • Provide overall strategic direction and leadership for the MSCTS program.
  • Ensure the program’s alignment with OUHC’s educational mission, as well as national standards for clinical and translational sciences.
  • Oversee curriculum design, academic policies, and program assessment.
  • Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and research centers to strengthen educational and research opportunities.

Academic & Student Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate program faculty and research mentors.
  • Support graduate students through advising, career development, and research mentorship.
  • Champion experiential learning, community-engaged research, and interdisciplinary team science.

Research & Scholarly Activity

  • Promote research opportunities that integrate research and clinical trial design, ethics, community engagement, biostatistics, epidemiology and health disparities research.
  • Strengthen collaborations with the OU Health Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, Stephenson Cancer Center, and other OUHC research programs.
  • Position the MSCTS program as a strong contributor to OUHC’s NIH Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources OSCTR)–related initiatives

Administration & Operations

  • Manage program budget, resources, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead program evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
  • Represent the program at institutional, regional, and national meetings.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, DrPH, or equivalent) in a health sciences or biomedical field.
  • Current appointment as Professor or Associate Professor
  • Record of scholarship in clinical and translational research, including peer-reviewed publications and/or extramural funding.
  • Experience in graduate-level education, including curriculum development, student advising, and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience directing or coordinating an academic graduate program including certificate programs.
  • Evidence of successful interdisciplinary collaboration and team science.
  • Commitment to advancing the health of Oklahomans through discovery and education.
