At the 2025 OUHSC Employee Recognition Ceremony on June 6, Megan Westbrook, Business Manager for the HSC Graduate College, was honored with the prestigious Regents’ Award for Superior Staff—the highest staff distinction awarded by the University of Oklahoma.
Presented annually, the Regents’ Award recognizes staff whose exceptional performance and service make a lasting impact on the university and its community. Honorees are selected not only for what they accomplish, but also for how they do it—with initiative, excellence, and a spirit of service that transcends the boundaries of their official roles.
Megan Westbrook exemplifies everything the Regents’ Award stands for. Described by colleagues as the “go-to person for everything human resources-related,” Megan is known for her expertise, resourcefulness, and unwavering support. Whether assisting faculty, staff, or trainees, she ensures that every question is answered and every challenge met with care, clarity, and commitment.
Beyond her role in business operations, Megan is a trusted advocate for students and trainees—particularly international scholars navigating complex immigration processes. Her open-door policy and approachable nature create a safe space where individuals feel valued, heard, and supported.
For more than a decade, Megan has played a key role in organizing the annual flu and COVID vaccination clinics across OU campuses, managing registration and documentation with care and precision. This work, like much of what she does, is driven by a deep sense of responsibility to the university and the greater community.
Megan’s service reaches far beyond campus. Her volunteer work spans numerous organizations—including the Oklahoma Foundation for the Disabled, Period OKC, Regional Food Bank, Santa’s Cause, and Free to Live. A proud alumna of the University of Central Oklahoma, she also gives back through her involvement on the UCO Board of Trustees and Alumni Boards, encouraging alumni and students alike to stay connected and engaged.
“Megan’s job performance is characterized by technical excellence, superior reliability, and a collaborative mindset that pushes her beyond her official duties,” noted one nominator. “She is recognized as a leader and trusted colleague across the Health Sciences Center and even on the Norman and Tulsa campuses.”
Her behind-the-scenes impact is often profound. When a graduate student was presented with a valuable training opportunity that didn’t align with standard procedures, Megan worked across departments to secure approvals—ensuring the student could participate without delay.
She’s also a champion for staff within the Graduate College, regularly coordinating professional development and team-building opportunities. Her leadership helps foster a positive, cohesive culture where colleagues feel empowered, appreciated, and aligned with the College’s mission.
Megan Westbrook’s contributions—both seen and unseen—elevate the Graduate College, enrich the student experience, and exemplify the spirit of OU. Her recognition as a Regents’ Award recipient is a testament to her extraordinary dedication, leadership, and heart.
