Graduate College’s GPiBS Program Kicks Off with Oncology Science Meet & Greet
Published: Thursday, August 7, 2025
The OUHSC Graduate College recently welcomed 35 new students into the Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences (GPiBS), marking the start of an exciting first year of interdisciplinary training. As part of their GPiBS experience, students explore a variety of basic science research areas through lab rotations—an important step in selecting the PhD program and mentor that best aligns with their interests and goals.
To help introduce students to the range of research opportunities available, the Department of Oncology Science hosted a meet and greet focused on faculty engagement and lab exploration. Faculty members shared brief overviews of their research programs and discussed how students can rotate in their labs through participating departments.
This event not only showcased the collaborative spirit of GPiBS and the Graduate College, but also emphasized the program’s commitment to providing students with early exposure to high-impact biomedical research. By engaging with faculty across departments, students begin building the academic and professional networks that will support them throughout their doctoral journey.
