Graduate College Staff Member Showcases Research at National Psychology Conference
Published: Tuesday, November 25, 2025
In the Graduate College, we are accustomed to seeing our students and postdoctoral fellows share their scholarship on national stages. This month, one of our own staff members had the opportunity to do the same.
Jessica (John) Newhouse, Senior Student Program Coordinator for the Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences and a current Ph.D. student in Educational Psychology, recently presented her research at the biennial 2025 Scholarly Consortium for Innovative Psychology in Education (SCIPIE) conference, hosted on the University of Oklahoma’s Norman campus. Her poster examined teacher burnout, focusing on whether the deep sense of meaning educators find in their work can help buffer the mental and emotional demands of the profession.
The SCIPIE conference convened educational psychology scholars from across the country to share research, explore new ideas, and advance the science of learning. Jessica’s participation reflects not only her commitment to her own academic journey, but also the Graduate College’s values of inquiry, creativity, and continuous growth. Her work embodies the spirit of scholarly engagement that strengthens our community and inspires those around her.
