GREAT is an acronym for Graduate Research Education and Technology Symposium. For the past 37 years, students at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center have showcased their original research at GREAT. Students and postdoctoral fellows compete for travel grants to present their research at national scientific meetings. Participation in GREAT has increased substantially in recent years and in 2012 had 119 participants.
The 2013 symposium hosts three Pre-GREAT Workshops, oral and poster presentations, and vendor show. The symposium also hosts a career development workshop presented by the Noha Farag, MD, Ph.D., OUHSC graduate now serving as Animal-Human Interface Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and a keynote address by Barbara E. Corkey, Ph.D., Zoltan Kohn Professor of Medicine & Vice Chair for Research of the Obesity Research Center in the Department of Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine.
All students are encouraged to present a 10-minute oral and/or poster presentation. If you would like to assistant with organization or volunteer at the symposium, contact Xiaowu-Gu@ouhsc.edu or Lauren-Liles@ouhsc.edu
